Pizza & Root Beer

Our Valentine's Day always consists of pizza and root beer. It's kind of a weird tradition but we've done it ever since we were together. We were married just 5 days after Valentine's Day so our first Valentine's Day together was when we were engaged and we only got to spend an hour with each other because of our schedules. So, during our lunch break we grabbed a hot and ready and root beer and took it to our soon to be apartment. We've kept the tradition alive ever since. Except this year we upgraded to Pizza Hut. :) I love it. The rest of the night was spent watching Becoming Jane and playing Mario Galaxy on the Wii (my present to Zach).

What is his name? Zachary McLean

How long have you been married? 3 years in a week :)

How long did you date? We met and didn't start dating until 6 months later. We ended up dating for 3 months and were engaged for 3 months.

How old is he? 25

How old are you? 22

Who eats more sweets? Definitely me. He does like real sugary candy and I like chocolate.

Who said I love you first? He did...and then I drilled him with lots of questions and finally said it back after awhile!

Who is taller? He is...even though I thought we were the same height the first month we were dating.

Who can sing better? I think we are equal in this category. Neither of us have amazing voices but we can both carry a tune.

Who is smarter? Definitely Zach...that's why he's the one in optometry school!

Who does the laundry? Me. He offers to do it but whenever he does it he gets confused about which shirts of mine he isn't supposed to dry and so they all end up drying on towels!

Who does the dishes? We both do, I like to wash them but hate drying them so he usually dries them for me!

Who pays the bills? Zach

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? He does

Who mows the lawn? Umm...if we had a lawn he would mow it. I've never mowed a lawn in my life!

Besides you, who is his best friend? Guy, Tex, Bryson, T, Blake, Brian...even though he doesn't talk to them weekly like I talk to my best friends!

Who cooks dinner? Me, he helps out every now and then.

Who drives? Both of us

Who is more stubborn? I would say Zach is way more stubborn than me. Before we were married his mom asked my mom if I knew how stubborn he was...I learned fast. If you asked him though, he would say that I am stubborn but only because he has rubbed off on me!

Who kissed who first? He kissed me on my 19th birthday...only a week after we had gone on our first date. He tries to tell me that he wanted to wait longer but I don't believe him.

Who asked who out first? He asked me out finally after taking 6 months to get the courage to do so! :)

What was your first date? We went to the driving range in Rexburg, went to the movies and saw The Village and laughed through the entire movie. Afterwards we went to Coldstone and then we walked around the Idaho Falls temple grounds because he was showing me what he did at work (he worked on the temple grounds crew).

Who proposed? Zach...and I was so surprised!

Who has more friends? Equal again...I definitely keep in better touch though.

Who is more sensitive? Me by far. His dad keeps telling me that he will get more sensitive with age, I hope so!

Who has more siblings? Zach has 4 and I have 1...not too hard to beat!

Who wears the pants? hmm...both of us.

Living in tornado alley

So last Tuesday we learned what it is like to live in tornado country. The weathermen kept saying that we were at risk for really bad weather. It was hard to believe because the temperature was in the 70s and it was sunny most of the day. They let all the kids out of school early because of the risk...I couldn't believe it. The doctor I work for had us reschedule all of our afternoon appointments and then he left around 4:00 and told Katie and I that if the weather looked like it was going to get worse to leave early. Well, the weather changed way too fast for us to get out early. Seriously, we looked out the window at 4:30 and it was a little windy and about 10 minutes later you couldn't see the sun, the wind had picked up and it was pouring rain. So, we turned the news on on our computer and listened as the weathermen said a terrible storm was heading our way and there had already been sitings of a few tornadoes! We ended up getting stuck at work because there was a tornado heading straight for Midtown (where I work) and there were already a few in the Bartlett area (where we live). Katie and I just sat in the break room with the news on full blast in the front so we could hear where the tornadoes were heading. Somehow, it completely missed Midtown (thank goodness!) and we decided to try going home because the one in Bartlett had moved also. It was pretty scary...the whole time I was driving home the guy on the radio kept saying to take shelter if you were in Shelby county and to definitely get out of your cars and mobile homes. The rest of the night was filled with more warnings but we were safe!

It's crazy how fast the weather changed though. We went from a tornado watch to tornado warning to a tornado emergency all in about 35 minutes! The weathermen say that it is the worst storm to hit Memphis in 34 years. There is quite a bit of damage in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas and unfortunately over fifty deaths. I decided that I really don't like the sound of tornado sirens. Anyway, that was our exciting adventure for the week!

Snow in Memphis?

This is what my car looked like this morning when I went to work. The weird part is it was sunny and warm this morning. I didn't even have to scrape the windshield...it was so weird.

The weather changed very quickly today. By the time I got to work it was pouring rain and has been all day long. There's another winter storm warning tonight but we'll see how bad it really is.

Other than that, I don't have much to say. Zach started his job a few weeks ago. He works on Thursday mornings at 6:30 cleaning the equipment in the lab. So far he is enjoying it, I mean really how could he not enjoy it? He works for an hour once a week! As for me, it is hard to get out of bed on Thursday mornings since Zach leaves before I am even awake! Work is going well for me also. It has been really busy this week though so I have been pretty worn out by the time I get home. I am also starting to work two Saturdays a month, starting this Saturday. I'm not looking forward to working 6 days a week on those weeks we are open on Saturday but the money will be nice. Plus, we're only open until 12:30 on Saturdays so I still have most the day to spend doing other stuff. I'm trying to get better at this whole blogging thing but it's hard because my lap top is completely shot now and Zach is usually using our other computer for homework. I'll try to do better though!
